1. The 2001 Outsourcing World Summit, Palm Desert, CA, US, Feb.19-21, 2001
Organized by Michael F. Corbett & Associates, Ltd. This is the 5th Summit since 1998, it has become one of the most influential summit in the outsourcing field. 2. xSP Channel Conference & xSP World, Boston, US, Aug.21-22, 2001
Organized by Solution Provider Institute (SPI), an Application Service Provider(ASP). ASP is a new trend and is said to be the kernel business style in the IT outsourcing industry since switching to service oriented businesses.
As the service style diversifies, ASP has extended to xSP, it includes: ISP, MSP, ASP, CSP, WSP, IISP, MSSP, SASP, etc. It has opened up a brand new market for outsourcing service. This conference was called upon from this background and was aimed to build the digital economic channels. 3. IT Outsourcing Conference：Establishing A Competitive Edge Using Outsourcing and Application, Boston, US, Oct.28-30, 2001
The conference were sponsored by Outsourcing Institute and DCI. It is a large scale conference, also sponsored by some other consulting company, middleware company, and service providers, e.g. Tara Consulting Service. There were representatives from developing country, e.g. Industrial trading division of Philippine, exporting enterprises of Romania, representatives from Sri Lanka, And DoubleBridge Technologies Company which already have a branching office in China. The conference topics including: IT Outsourcing, e-Business Outsourcing, Offshore Outsourcing. The materials discussed including developing trends, experiencing, risk management, supplier selections, outsourcing processing management, cultural difference, case studies, etc. Many service suppliers also attended the meeting in order to establish contact channels. 4. Workshop On Global Software Outsourcing For Addressing The IT Skills Gap, at Berlin, Mar.30-31, 2001
The sponsors of the workshop including Manchester University of England, WZB of German Science Center, Bangalore Management institute of India, and Norway's Oslo University. The main topic is how to solve the shortage of IT specialist through outsourcing. England and German pays special attention to this topic because of their serious shortage of IT works, e.g. German need at least 75,000 IT works. Representatives are from academic field, government officers and policy makers, potential and actual IT clients. This conference was supported by the Anglo funding organization of Germany. The conference has discussed current problems, solutions, experiences and lessons learned, next studying topic and possible cooperating fields. 5. 2nd International Conference on Outsourcing of Information Services (ICOIS 2001), at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, June 22-23, 2001
The first conference was hold in Holland (OUT'93) in 1993. After eight years, since the outsourcing of information services has developed extensively, the organizers felt the need to hold a similar meeting again. During these eight years, there were more than 85 articles, including Doctor's disquisition, published. This conference has gained support from the industrial field. 6. IT Offshore Outsourcing Exhibition & Conference, Amsterdam, June 26-27, 2001
The first large outsourcing exhibition and conference held in Europe, there were more than 100 companies attending. 7. IDC's xSP Conference 'ASP to xSP - Next Generation Outsourcing', London, Sep.13, 2001
This is the second series of the conference since the UK ASP conference held by IDC in 2000. It was designed to fulfill the needs of xSP, and has integrated the xSP with the new outsourcing businesses. 8. International Workshop On Building Competencies Through Global Collaborations For Software Development, Oslo, Norway, Nov.30-Dec.1, 2001-12-22
